Environmental education




The conservation and promotion of salt landscape - The case of Jingzaijiao Tile-paved Salt Fields, Beimen district, Tainan city
Southwest coast of Taiwan because of the natural conditions of production of salt is better than other regions, 338 years has always been an important salt production in Taiwan. Jingzaijiao Tile-paved Salt Fields is the oldest and the most reserved tile-paved pan ruin and stopped producing in 2000, resuming evaporating bring in the sun in 2003, enrolled to be a historical site in 2009. The Southwest Coast National Scenic Area Administration (SCNSA) which was established in 2003 decided to transform Jingzaijiao Tile-paved Salt Fields into a site for promote the salt landscape to cultural heritage preservation and form the transformation and re-use of salt on a new page, resulted in the sustainability of environment and tourism.
Enviroment education
Jingzaijiao Tile-paved Salt Fields has been approved  "Environmental Education facility sites' by Taiwan Environmental Protection Administration, Executive Yuan at March 16th 2015. In professional manpower training, there are 4 officer obtained certification and engaged in program design, teaching and other business. Vocational volunteers who have certification of environmental education are appointed to serve tourists and to help designing teaching plans. Volunteer's training courses are held randomly. There are 236 people in 7 groups participate in this course in 2016.

The Jingzaijiao Tile-paved Salt Fields are the first salt field in Tainan’s Beimen area and they are also the oldest relics of tile-paved salt fields that still exist in the country
Geo-tourism

The SCNSA appointed local senior salt workers as consultant, sharing their experience to maintain the traditional salt making process, repaired the damaged pan after typhoon or flood, build explaination boards and tour guide room to improve tourism quality. 
Parts of Jingzaijiao Tile-paved Salt Fields are opened to tourist to experience the fun of salt production. For further promotion, the SCNSA also combine the local religion and nature scenery to hold large activities, such as "Kunshen Wang Pingan Salt Festival" and the "last sunset at Jingzailiao".
Tainan Beimen Jingzaijiao Tile-paved Salt Fields achieved Pacific Asia Travel Association Gold Award Environmental Education program in 2017. 
Local participation
The SCNSA have invited local industry to hold activities together to enhance the community cohension and cultural identity, even more to strengthen the foreign tourists on the tile-paved salt awareness. The front part of the construction plan will invite community professional scholars together to discuss.
The local community association has packed local tours, promote the local agriculture products and guided tourists to experience the beauty of salt town.
