International Conference on Landscape Conservation and Sustainable Development

April 18-23, 2019
Taipei, Taiwan

BACKGROUND
The purpose of this international conference on Landscape Conservation and Sustainable Development is to promote conservation for a sustainable human environmental future through geoparks, national parks, nature reserves, and local initiatives for sustainable projects, etc. In the rapid changing global environment, the local, regional, national and transnational endeavors are needed to ensure good and sustainable results.

Local endeavors are critical for a good practice for sustainable societal and environmental future. This is particularly true and significant in a world of diversity and in an era of uncertainty today. As well important is endeavors from a macro- and structural perspective. For instance, the UNESCO Global Geoparks, Satoyama initiative, and IUCN WCPA Green List are cases demonstrating endeavors of a macro- and transnational scope for sustainability. Regardless of the scale and scope of the environmental concerns, networking and sharing good practices are critical elements for success.

In the ecologically, economically, and politically intertwined global environment, the success of a good practice for conservation and sustainable development will not only benefit the site itself. Through networking and sharing, the significance of good practice will be magnified immensely. We are therefore inviting you to join us for the conference to share your research results and experience to shed lights for our common future.

This conference invites researchers, academics, communities, government authorities and other interested individuals/groups to participate. It will offer not only an opportunity to exchange ideas and learn from one another, but also a chance to visit various geoparks, national parks or national scenic area of Taiwan to gain insights from their managerial and governing practices. Four post-conference field trips will be made available for you to choose from.
